Transportation
From O’Hare International Airport (ORD)
it is 19 miles and from Midway International Airport (MDW) it is 14
miles. Public transportation and various shuttles (Go Airport
Express from O’Hare; Continental Airport Express from Midway) and
limousine services are available from these two airports. Public
transportation from the airports on the CTA is $2.50-$3 (one-way),
plus an additional $5-$7 taxi fare to the hotel from the CTA stop to
the hotel.

find train/bus routes to get you from the airports to the Drake.

Room Rate
Due to unforeseen
circumstances, hotel rooms for Friday, June 3rd, are sold out at
both the conference hotel (The Drake) and the overflow hotel. It is
recommended that attendees visit
hotels.com
or
priceline.com to find affordable lodging within a short distance
of The Drake hotel.
In addition, attendees are
urged to make their reservations for the other nights of the
conference (Sunday - Thursday) quickly.
$139 per night + tax, for
single/double occupancy. Rooms are subject to a prevailing (15.4%)
room tax. Check-in time is 3:00 pm and check-out is at noon. Hotel
cancellations without penalty will be accepted 72 hours prior to
arrival. The Drake is a Hilton property. Further room/hotel code and
other seminar information will be provided on the AFTE website, once
it has been established.
Group Rate
The group rate will be offered 3 days
prior to and 3 days after the seminar. Reservations must be received
no later than April 27, 2011 to qualify for the group rate. Please
identify yourself as part of AFTE 2011 to receive the group rate
(again, the Drake Hotel is a Hilton property).
Guest Services
Includes concierge, ATM, in-room,
coffee maker and mini-bar, room-service (until 11 pm), gift shop,
fitness center (complimentary), doorman, valet-parking, and four
on-site restaurants.
Guest Parking
Valet Parking (not affiliated with
the hotel) is $49 per day. Lower cost, self-park garages
can be found at both the "900 N. Michigan Building Parking" and "100
E. Walton Parking" structures. Note: a good alternative to the
driving/parking would be taking public transportation to the
seminar. See MegaBus.com and Amtrak.com.
Attractions and Activities
The Magnificent Mile (world class,
shopping/restaurants), Rush Street (restaurants/clubs), banks
nearby, Navy Pier (rides, shops, OmniMax), Art Institute of Chicago,
Field Museum of Natural History, Shedd Aquarium (world’s largest),
Adler Planetarium, John Hancock Observation Deck (one block away),
Willis (formerly “Sears” and US tallest building) Towers Observation
Deck and the “Ledge”, plus numerous beaches and parks nearby. This
seminar is in a venue that is in a central, large metropolitan city,
location with a multitude of attractions, amenities and activities;
all of which are within walking-distance or a short, cab/bus ride.
Please note: the weather in late May/early June can be cool.
