AFTE Store - Conversion of an SKS Rifle to Fire Full-Automatic
This paper was written to help show firearms examiners the small minute modifications that can be applied to the trigger assembly of SKS type rifles allowing the full-automaticd mode of fire. Recently, our laboratory worked in conjunction with the Indianapolis Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms office in a case which involved fourteen SKS type 7.62 x 39mm rifles that were being sold as full-automatic, some had serial numbers removed. The modifications to the trigger assembly on several of the rifles would allow one to switch from the semi-automatic mode to the full-automatic mode of fire with the simple re-installation of a part.
