AFTE Store - An Electrically Actuated Shotgun Man-Trap

It is not unusual for criminals to protect their illegal operations by setting warning devices and man-traps around the perimeter of their properties or upon entry to their premises. These devices are usually crudely constructed and physically actuated by the intruder, either to sound a warning or to cause an injury. The authors have investigated a shooting incident involving injury where a shotgun man-trap had been placed at the entry to an underground room being utilised as space for hydroponic cannabis production. What was unusual about this man-trap was its sophistication; this device was electrically actuated and designed to discharge a shotgun at an intruder by means of a passive infra red motion detector.
