AFTE Store - Homemade Copies of Commercial Factory-Made Self-Loading Pistols

Four types of pistol are routinely used in crime in Turkey; standard commercial factory-made pistols, homemade copies of these commercial pistols that have been reproduced without permission, converted blank cartridge firing pistols and modified shotguns classified as a pistol according to Turkish criminal justice system. In this study, the number of homemade pistol copies submitted to the Aydin Regional Criminal Department from 2006 to 2008 are discussed. It was found that 261 examples had been submitted and that 12.6% of all pistols submitted to the laboratory in 2006, 13% in 2007 and 13% in 2008 were homemade pistol copies.
