Began in 2020, offering zinc-plated steel cases with brass bullets due to the high demand and expense of ammunition. A Brief History
The SME Ordnance Sdn. Bhd. Company (SMEO), formerly known as Syarikat Malaysia Explosive Sdn. Bhd., is a Malaysian defence company that specialises in the manufacturing and marketing of multiple calibers of ammunition. Initially created as a joint venture between the Malaysian government, and private partners in Germany and Switzerland, but became a Malaysian government owned company in 1974. They have future plans to produce M4 carbines. The #-# stands for the month-year of manufacture.

The foundations for he operation of the company were laid by Mátravidéki Fémművek established in 1952. The company based its production on the conventions of ammunition manufacturing in Hungary, exploiting the established technology and expertise. The product line and manufacturing technology of Mátravidéki Fémművek were determined by the Russian model and regulations. Along with the development of the factory they started to produce for the civil market in the late 1950's.
Within ammunition manufacturing, the proportion of production for only military orders began to decrease in the 1960's and continued to decline in the late 1970's. The present range of cartridges including the most favourite types found in pistol, hunting and blank cartridge market has evolved from 1990 up to now. Besides the more and more significant domestic market the decisive majority of products is sold on European and American export market.
After several changes in ownership at the moment the ammunition manufacturing division of the former Mátravidéki Fémművek acts under the name of MFS 2000 Hungarian Ammunition Manufacturing Inc. as private company.
The company offers technical design and manufacturing expertise for ammunition manufacturing profile. Its profile also includes the manufacturing and distribution of tools used in cold metalwork. The company has ISO 9001 and AQAP 110 quality assurance and the regulated processes make manufacturing of uniformly good quality products possible. All products are made in accordance with C.I.P. requirements.
The policy of MFS 2000 Hungarian Ammunition Manufacturing Inc. is to ensure high quality. A Brief History
Headstamp seen on 223 Remington Silver Bear ammunition. The headstamp features both MFS (Magyar Loszergyarto Kft, Matravideki Femmuvek, Sirok, Hungary) and BPZ (Cyrillic, JSC Barnaul). It was made by Barnaul in Russia, but marketed by MFS in Hungary, to facilitate additional sales in Western European countries.

Virginia-based ZQI Ammunition is importing and selling three calibers of NATO ammunition to Walmart stores nationwide. ZQI’s 7.62×51 mm M80, 5.56×45 mm SS109, and 9 x 19 mm Parabellum cartridges feature lead-antimony alloy full-metal-jacket bullets, reloadable brass cases and sealed, non-corrosive boxer primers. The 7.62 and 5.56 cartridge case necks are annealed for additional strength and resilience to withstand chamber and reloading die pressures, while primer sealant on all three calibers ensures that both primer and powder are protected from fouling via moisture due to extended carry or field operations. Manufactured in Turkey to NATO specifications, this ball ammunition is ideal for training, as well as recreational and competitive shooting. Since its retail debut in November 2013, ZQI Ammunition has earned a reputation for offering clean shooting and high quality cartridges in sought after calibers. One customer remarked, “I like your [7.62 x 51] product. I appreciate ZQI bringing their products to the masses via Walmart, a great distribution channel for the ordinary man. CBC Overview
CBC was founded in 1926 and from 1936 up to 1979, Remington Arms and ICI were the main shareholders. Today it is a totally privately owned Brazilian company and the principal share holder is the ARBI investment group.
CBC employs 1,200 people and produces more than 415 million rounds of ammunition each year. CBC’s manufacturing operations are ISO 9001 certified.
CBC’s main industrial complex is located in the city of Ribeirao Pires in the State of Sao Paulo, Brazil, in a vast green area of 500 acres with 377.000 square feet of built area. This key facility contains its ammunition, propellant powder and primer composition manufacturing operations, as well as its central offices. A second industrial complex, located in the south of Brazil is dedicated to the production of firearms and shot-shells.
All the ammunition lots produced at CBC are evaluated in the ballistic laboratory. Tests are monitored by very precise computers, which check for the ammunition performance, including velocity, pressure, accuracy and impact. All of these facilities are also available for the improvement and development of ammunition for all our customers. All ammunition is tested, from .22RF up to the 20 mm and 30 mm, used in military ships and aircrafts. All the information generated during the testing is automatically entered in the computer databases. Test facilities include six tunnels for ballistic tests, which range from 55 to 492 yards in length.
CBC offers a wide range of products for commercial and military use, including centerfire and rimfire ammunition of small and medium calibers, industrial cartridges, ammunition components, propellant powder, shotguns and rifles. CBC produces cartridges for both the civilian and military markets with calibers ranging from .22LR to 30 mm. As the arsenal for the Brazilian Armed Forces (Army, Navy and Air Force), besides supplying to several military forces worldwide, military ammunition has a daily average production of 1.000.000 rounds of 7.62 mm, 5.56 mm, .50 (12.7 x 99 mm), and other medium calibers and special rounds for training.
The maior volume production is the manufacturing of handgun ammunition for all calibers. The most popular cartridges produced today are calibers .380 AUTO, 40 S&W, 9 mm, 375MAG, 45AUTO, 44MAGNUM and .38. CBC also produces a wide range of rifle cartridges and shotshells. All commercial cartridges made by CBC are sold worldwide under the trade name “MAGTECH” and exported to more than 50 countries over two distribution centers, one in Minneapolis,MN, in the USA and the other in Hamburg, Germany. This ammunition is widely adopted by the Police in more than 20 countries and also by the Armed Forces worldwide.
About 80 percent of CBC’s firearms are exported and the export rate of the ammunition is approximately 70 percent of our total production. Products meet international regulations and are qualified by the Brazilian Armed Forces and the main proof houses in Europe.
