Correlation Algorithm of Conventional and EBIS Polygonal Bullets

Correlation algorithm is one key element of a ballistic identification system.  In BULLETTRAX 3D bullet a single correlation algorithm has been optimized in order to deal with several types of bullets.  However, bullets fired from cut and button, conventional polygonal and EBIS (Enhanced Barrel Identification System) riflings display very different patterns of structions.  The objective of this project is to develop two correlation algorithms, dedicated to conventional and EBIS polygonal bullets, respectively.  Our goal is to meet the firearm experts’ ability to find matches on a comparison microscope with these two types of bullets.
