The effectiveness of the Trace Evidence methods developed by the Scientific Working Group for Materials Analysis for the recovery of gunpowder particles embedded from clothing was evaluated. The technique may not be needed for every type of shooting case, but in certain cases, could lead to the recovery of valuable information that might not be obtained from current AFTE methods.
