1000 cartridges were consecutively fired from a Ruger P89 to determine how significantly individual characteristics on bullets and cartridge cases change. Pattern matching and QCMS were utilized as ID criteria. Results revealed that all bullets and shear marks on cartridge cases could be identified to each other, and that consecutive matching striae exceeded the conservative quantitative criteria for ID.
