The analysis of GSR patterns is a widely applied technique in the investigation of shooting incidents mainly relying on chemical color tests.  Milli-X-Ray Fluorescence Spectroscopy (m-XRF) offers another versatile technique to visualize and analyze GSR patterns and estimate shooting distances.  This approach is in particular useful when investigating heavy metal free primers and stained specimens.  Some examples of the application of m-XRF are presented.
