The Persistence of Chamber Marks over 1,440 Firings of Two Semiautomatic Pistols

Chamber marks are toolmarks frequently encountered on fired cartridge cases.  Chamber marks are used on a regular basis to make identifications.  Although chamber marks are used for comparison purposes, only a handful of articles have been published regarding their value for identification purposes in casework.  The goal of this research project is to provide the Firearm and Toolmark Identification community with a resource for information on the persistence of chamber marks over an extended number of firings.
