A Brief History
Igman production of Konjic Yugoslavia (Bosnia) 5.56 NATO caliber M855 Ball ammunition. Headstamp "IK 03 5.56x45" Reportedly a contract for a NATO member nation equipping for deployment to Afghanistan or Iraq. Packaged on 10-round stripper clips in white cardboard boxes, 4 boxes to an olive drab fabric bandoleer. Three boxes contain three, 10-round stipper clips/box, while the fourth box contains a single 10-round stripper clip and a stripper clip "spoon" to facilitate magazine loading. This provides 100 rounds/bandoleer. Ammunition is green-tipped, copper jacketed, lead core, with steel penetrator projectile tip, knurled bullet crimp cannelure, brass case, brass percussion primer, red primer sealant, ring primer crimp. Ammunition manufactured by Indumil out of Bogota, Colombia. Indumil is the Military Industry of Colombia, which is run by the government and oversees manufacturing and purchasing of firearms and ammunition. They have three locations across the country and also produce explosives, hospital items, and have laboratory services that include calibrations. Other headstamps that can be seen on their products include "INDUMIL".

AMERICAN AMMUNITION RENEWS TEAMING AGREEMENT WITH ISRAEL MILITARY INDUSTRIES
Miami, Florida/June 22, 2004/American Ammunition, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: AAMI) announced today that it had renewed its Teaming Agreement with Israel Military Industries Ltd. (“IMI”), effective on June 2, 2004. The purpose of the Teaming Agreement is to continue to utilize complimentary assets and resources each has with respect to the manufacture, marketing and supply of small arms ammunition to governmental and private customers in the United States and worldwide. AAMI and IMI agree to cooperate on a non-exclusive basis. The program is effective for an additional period of one (1) year.
IMI is a government owned company organized and existing under the laws of Israel having its principal office in Ramat, Hasharon, Israel and is engaged, in the production of small arms ammunition utilizing technology and skills not currently utilized by AAMI.

The "IMT" headstamp is manufactured at the Lewiston, Idaho plant that currently houses Freedom Munitions. A company called Kash CA Inc bought Howell Machine and Technology in 2019 and is still the owner, currently producing headstamps with Freedom Munitions, X-Treme, and LAX. The "IMT" headstamp was changed to "HMT" for several years prior to the purchase of the company in 2019.

La Industria Militar tiene su origen en el año de 1908, cuando se organizó el "Taller Nacional de Artes Mecánicas" dependiendo del Ministerio de Guerra. En el año de 1954 dadas las exigencias de nuevas estructuras y objetivos de mayor alcance se crea la INDUSTRIA MILITAR como entidad autonoma, despues como Empresa Industrial y Comercialdel Estado, iniciando con su primera Fábrica
denominada "General José María Córdova", para la fabricación de armamento y de munición de pequeño calibre para uso militar prioritariamente. La Fábrica "Santa Bárbara", nace en el año 1955, como la segunda Unidad Operativa con maquinaria y equipos destinados a la fabricación de municiones pesadas de artillería para las Fuerzas Militares, iniciando operaciones en el año 1964. Finalmente la Fábrica de Explosivos "Antonio Ricaurte", se creó en el año de 1963 con el carácter de Sociedad Comercial Anónima y en 1968 pasa a convertirse en la tercera Unidad Operativa de la Industria Militar.

Con el transcurrir de los años, luego de un desarrollo industrial las tres factorías han ampliado y diversificado sus líneas de producción y servicios, con capacidad tecnológica para la fabricación de productos de alta calidad, hecho que le permite ser competitiva en cualquier mercado a nivel global.
Mediante decreto 2137 de 1989, le fue otorgado el Premio Nacional de la Calidad, en la categoría de gran industria, constituyéndose en la primera empresa del Estado que logró alcanzarlo. Así mismo, con el decreto 1806 de 1989, el gobierno otorgó la Orden al merito Industrial, en la categoría de Gran Oficial, como reconocimiento a la importante labor que la Empresa ha desarrollado. En el año 2000, la Industria Militar obtuvo la certificación para el Sistema de Aseguramiento de la Calidad bajo la normatividad NTC ISO 9002/94. En el año 2002, la Empresa renovó la certificación para el Sistema de Gestión de la Calidad según los requisitos de la norma NTC ISO 9001:2000. En el año 2004 la Industria Militar participó y obtuvo el Premio Colombiano a la Calidad de la Gestión 2003, como primera Empresa del Sector Defensa en obtenerlo. Galardón entregado en el mes de Julio, por el Presidente de la República, como un reconocimiento a la gestión integral de la organización al utilizar criterios de aplicación mundial, que permiten elevar los niveles de competitividad de la Empresa, sirviendo de ejemplo y referencia a nivel Nacional para motivar a las demás organizaciones del país y proyectarla más allá de las fronteras.
En cumplimiento de la Misión General de la Empresa, esta factoría esta orientada a servir de apoyo a las Fuerzas Militares y Policía Nacional, a los Organismos de seguridad del Estado, a las Empresas de vigilancia, seguridad ciudadana, los particulares en general y en la atención de mercados externos. De acuerdo con las políticas gubernamentales, como la modernización del Estado y la apertura económica, la Empresa ha hecho esfuerzos para ofrecer al Sector Defensa, productos adecuados; entre los más importantes pueden señalarse los siguientes:

SNC TEC was formed as a result of two purchases: the first, in 1980, Industries Valcartier Inc. (IVI), a small caliber ammunition plant; and the second, in 1986, Canadian Arsenals Ltd. (CAL), a large caliber ammunition facility with two plants. Both IVI and CAL were built during World War II and operated by the Canadian government as crown corporations for many years prior to being sold to the private sector. Since these two acquisitions in the 1980s, there has been considerable streamlining, reorganization and modernization to maintain highly effective ammunition facilities.
In 2001, SNC TEC acquired Expro Chemical Products in Valleyfield. This acquisition has strengthened the company's position as a key member of the ammunition industrial base by providing the knowledge and technology of one of only two extruded propellant manufacturers in North America.
In the late 1980's, SNC TEC recognized a growing need in the military and law enforcement communities to make their training more realistic. The company developed a line of reduced-energy, non-toxic training cartridges. Simunition® has a staff of experts who work in cooperation with law enforcement agencies and the military to train instructors and users.
By improving tactical skills and conditioning response to fear, the Simunition® family of training products ultimately saves lives. There are regional representatives around the world and together they control an international network of distributors of Simunition® products.

With a staff of over 1,450 employees, of whom 200 are graduate engineers or scientists, SNC TEC maintains a high
level of technical expertise to conduct design, development, product improvement and full production for most calibers of
conventional and training ammunition.
ROLE OF PRIME CONTRACTOR
In its capacity as a producer of military ammunition, SNC TEC acts as prime contractor; this includes procurement of components, sub-assemblies, LAP and lot acceptance testing of the ammunition.
QUALITY ASSURANCE
SNC TEC has a comprehensive quality assurance program which includes product inspection and testing of internally manufactured components, purchased components, and final products. In general, SNC TEC has adopted a culture that is founded on the value-added concept of Total Quality Management with all its implications: multidisciplinary teams to resolve problems and recommend improvements on a continuous basis; ongoing training for employees at all levels of the company; participative leadership; use of a computer-integrated manufacturing system, including statistical process control (SPC) on most production lines; and empowerment of employees to act within the limits of their knowledge and
responsibilities.
