Calvin Goddard writes of the major milestones in firearms identification beginning in 1900 with Dr. Albert Hall’s writings in the Buffalo Medical Journal, through Gravelle and Fisher’s work to develop the comparison microscope and helixometer, and ending with the creation of the first “complete scientific crime detection laboratory” in Chicago in 1929.
