A rare firearm was brought to the author’s attention, a .44 caliber Boito pistol manufactured in Brazil by a subsidiary of Rossi. This firearm has the basic appearance of the Thompson Contender and the Harrington & Richardson Handy gun, except that the Boito barrel is rifled while the H&R barrel is not. Nominal .44 and .45 caliber ammunition was fired in the Boito pistol and the appearance of cartridge cases and bullets are described.
