AFTE Store - A Sawed-Off Shotgun Barrel Identified by Random Marks Produced From Usage

This article describes how a shotgun with a sawed-off barrel was identified to a cut portion of a barrel recovered during a search warrant. The marks found on the inside of the barrel were produced from shooting or cleaning the shotgun and determined to be random and individual. After comparing the class and individual characteristics of the shotgun barrel and the cut portion of the other barrel, it was concluded that these two items were once a continuous piece.
