AFTE Store - Air Guns Altered to Fire Rimfire Cartridges

Air guns are commonly used for sporting activities and are available in .177 and .22 caliber. They work on compressed air, which imparts the necessary velocity to the projectiles in the form of lead pellets, which are loaded without any cartridge case unlike in the case of regular firearms. This report describes an unusual case of two air guns altered to accommodate and fire .22 caliber rim fire cartridges. The alterations made in the air guns and the changes thereby involved in the conventional compressed air based propelling mechanism have been discussed in the report.
