An Elimination by the Numbers? A Statistical Evaluation of Bunter Mark Significance

Bunter marks have been used to associate cartridge cases and/or cartridges from crime scenes with those recovered from a known source. If no relationship can be established between the two groups by standard microscopic examinations, the use of elementary probability may point in a different direction; that is, toward an elimination.
