AFTE Store - Angle: Effect on Hollow Point Bullets Fired Into Gelatin

A series of experimental test shots were fired into ballistic gelatin to determine whether or not expanding point bullets were affected by the angle at which they might enter a body. Three different brands of ammunition were selected and five shots each were fired into bare gelatin blocks. One end of each block had been cut to form a 45 degree angle. Other variables were introduced into the process such as shooting through wool cloth and higher velocity projectiles. Our preliminary finding suggest that an angle, up to 45 degrees does not affect the ability of certain hollow point bullets to expand.
