AFTE Store - Barrel and Overall Length Measurements of Firearms: a UK perspective

UK firearms legislation categorises certain types of firearms depending on their barrel and overall lengths. Consequently the precise determination of these lengths is important as there is a hierarchy of control depending on the category the firearm falls into. The specified lengths in the legislation are explicit, however how to measure them is not defined and the methodology used may vary. This paper is intended to stimulate debate and to suggest a robust harmonised approach.
