AFTE Store - Blank-Firing Devices Converted to Fire Live Ammunition:Trends Observed by the NYPD 2012 to 2018

A study has been conducted of blank-firing pistols and blank-firing pistols converted or modified to discharge bulleted ammunition, received for functionality testing at the Firearms Analysis Section (F.A.S.) of the New York City Police Department (NYPD) Laboratory from 2012 to 2018. This article is also intended to provide awareness of potential safety hazards when test-firing blank-firing pistols. Special consideration is given to Ekol and/or Ekol-Voltran Blank Pistols
analyzed for functionality.
