AFTE Store - Breech Face Subclass Characteristics of the Jimenez JA Nine Pistol

During the course of casework and review of IBIS correlation results, potential subclass characteristics were observed within breech face marks on cartridge cases fired in Jimenez Arms JA Nine pistols. The purpose of the research was two-fold, first, determine the source of the mark and secondly determine if the mark could be attributed to a particular range of production dates. Through the examination of multiple firearms, breech face casts, and test fired specimens, the presence of subclass characteristics was confirmed. Manufacturing information was obtained to understand the complete manufacturing process and to determine the source of the subclass mark. Direct observation of the manufacturing process was received as well as obtaining and examining consecutively manufactured slides.
