AFTE Store - Cartridge Case Study of the Heckler & Koch USP

The USP (Universal Self Loading Pistol) is the latest commercial offering from Heckler & Koch. The pistol is currently available in 9mm Luger and 40 S&W calibers. The short recoil semiatomatic pistol incorporates innovative design and manufactring techniques. Examination of two consectutively serial numbered 40 S&W caliber USPs was conducted. A third 40 S&W caliber USP with a lower serial number was also examined. Tests were fired and intercompared to determine if any corresondence could be found on fired components. Some of the production and techniqes will be reviewed.
