AFTE Store - Case Report: Comet Tailing

This is a report to alert all Firearms Examiners to what has been termed “Comet Tailing”. An incident occurred at a local Police Department range while testing different brands of ammunition for a new contract. The result was an unusual and interesting gunshot residue pattern showing up on the targets. The more baffling question was “Why was the residue not occurring every time, and not in other guns?”.
