AFTE Store - Conversion of a Kalashnikov-Type Assault Rifle from 7.62X39mm Caliber to 5.56x45mm Caliber

This case report examined a Kalashnikov of Chinese manufacture, model 56-1, of caliber 7.62X39mm assault rifle. This specific weapon was converted to shoot 5.56x45mm ammunition. The conversion was conducted with the use of parts from an Israeli Galil, 5.56x45mm assault rifle – along with minor machining of internal dimensions.
