An examination of a bullet rcochet mark on a laminated windshield glass can lead to an approximation of the direction from which a bullet came. When laminated glass is impacted by a bullet at a very small angle, measured from the plane of the glass and from a short distance away, a transfer of energy the bullet to the windshield can form crescent shaped fractures. This fracture pattern can indicate the direction of impact for use in crime scene reconstruction.
