AFTE Store - Effects of Ammunition on .25 Auto Caliber Gunshot Depositions

The effects of varying the type of ammunition on gunshot patterns produced by a .25 Auto semi-automatic pistol was studied. Various features of a gunshot pattern were evaluated including the presence of smoke, the presence of smoke gradient, the powder patterndiameter, the powder density and distrubution throughout the pattern as well as the maximum distance at which significant amounts of powder were being deposited on targets. Results indicate that ammunition type does have an effect on each of these at least to some extent.
