AFTE Store - Effects of Blood on Gunshot and Gunpowder Residue

Three samples of Jean Twill Cloth were shot using W-W 38 Special bullets. The first was left as a control. The second was soaked in blood for one hour and air dried. The third was soaked in blood for three hours and air dried. Microscopic examination revealed the most unburned and partially burned gunpowder in the control sample, and the least unburned and partially burned gunpowder in the third sample. All samples were then processed using the Griess Method. Although weaker than the control sample, the second and third sample still showed faint patterns of burnt gunpowder.
