AFTE Store - Examination of a Smith & Wesson Pistol with an Altered Firing Pin and Breech Face

A disassembled pistol was submitted to the laboratory. The pistol was assembled and test fired and the firing pin and breech face of the firearm were found to have been altered after it was used in a crime. This case study outlines the importance of being alert for altered firearms submitted for examination.
