Firearms Examiners Beware

During examination of one fired and sixteen unfired shotshell cases from a crime scene an identifiable toolmark was noted on the leading edge of the rim at the base of all the shotshells. After further examination it was found that this mark was not from the firearm but rather from the factory and contact with the manufacturer confirmed that the mark probably originated during the loading process.
