AFTE Store - “FireBall” Firearm Identification System

The “FireBall” Firearm Identification System was developed in response to a need identified by the Australian Police Ballistics Sections. They required a low cost image database on which to manage images of cartridge cases and projectiles from unsolved shooting incidents, which would allow for exchange of images between jurisdictions. The database is designed to be used on Windows 95/98 desktop personal computer, using off-the-shelf hardware and Microsoft Access, in conjunction with some custom image capture software. “FireBall” enables users to search suspect firearms against images of cartridge cases and projectiles held on the database, and has established a standard for image capture and exchange, between Australian Police Ballistics Sections.
