AFTE Store - Firing a 9mm Cartridge in a 40 S&W

Glocks innovative designs and high quality manufacturing techniques have created yet another are of difficulty for the firearm examiner. Improper cartridge adaptation, that is, the incorrect cartridge for a given firearm is nothing new, but recently a 9mm Luger magazine from a Glock Model 17 was accidentally loaded and fired in a 40 S&W Glock Model 22 pistol. This resulted in an unususal phenomenon that was very intriguing and should be of some future concern considering the sudden popularity of the 40 S&W cartridge and the rush of firearm manufacturers to supply consumers.
