AFTE Store - Full Automatic AR-15 Rifle

A case study in which an AR-15 rifle was converted to full-automatic fire simply by filing off the hammer notch. Some additional springs were added, but these were determined not to have an impact on the conversion. Success was most frequently achieved with commercial 223 Remington ammunition rather than military grade ammunition. This was determined to be most likely due to the hardness of military primers.
