AFTE Store - IBIS Manual Bullet Acquisition: Mounting Stub Modification
In many cases, the manual acquisition of an aggravated assault or homicide bullet into IBIS (Integrated Ballistic Identification System) involves the adjustment of the three rotational axes that govern the bullet’s position at the time of the entry. This ensures that the surface of the land impression is perpendicular to the camera’s optical axis when the acquisition is made. If the bullet is damaged, the acquisition can become complicated. A slight modification to the plastic mounting stub has resulted in an alternative method of aligning bullets during acquisition. Use of this modified stub saves valuable time when acquiring damaged bullets.
