AFTE Store - Identification of A Knife Wound In Bone

The author discusses the examination, comparison, and identification of toolmarks on a piece of rib from the victim of a stabbing to a knife submitted for examination. Test cuts from the knife were made at various angles in a synthetic test material called Dip-Pak. The test cuts and the rib were then cast with Coe-Flex and compared to each other using a comparison microscope. Accompanying photomicrographs show the overwhelming correspondence of both gross and fine stria.
