AFTE Store - Identification of a Lead-Free Bullet

Unusual bullet fragments from an eagle were analyzed in an attempt to identify the type of bullet and possible manufacturer. X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (XRF) and microscopic examination were used to identify the probable source as a 0.17 caliber lead-free bullet manufactured by Hornady Manufacturing Company.
