A case study in which it was noted that a 5R rifled bullet jacket was submitted with a 6R ‘rifled’ bullet core. Information obtained from Remington, the manufacturer, indicated that some cores from scallop-edged jacketed bullets from Remington could have some confusing marks on them. These marks are not from rifling of a firearm, but from a punch used in the manufacture of the bullets.
