AFTE Store - Matching Cast Bullets to the Mould that Made Them and Comparisons of Consecutively Manufactured Bullet Moulds
Within a single year, two articles that addressed the comparison between cast bullets and bullet moulds appeared in the AFTE Journal that seem to be diametrically opposed in their findings and conclusions. Philip M. (Mike) Kellet’s article appearing in Volume 16, number 3 (July 1984) describes being able to associate cast bullets with the individual mould from which the bullets were cast. A year later in Volume 17, number 3, James M. (Jim) Kreiser describes much carry over and subclass characteristics on bullets from consecutively manufactured bullet moulds and that one may only be able to associate a cast bullet with a group of bullet moulds. The present work revisits this topic and, as will be shown, resolves this seeming conflict of opinions.
