AFTE Store - Micro-Marked Firing Pins: Their Character, Durability and Legibility on Fired Cartridge Cases

The durability of laser engraved firing pins and their micro-encoding structures were examined for six different semi-automatic pistols, two semi-automatic rifles and one pump action shotgun. The legibility of the impressions from the engraved encoding structures transferred onto the cartridge cases discharged in these firearms was also examined and was found to be dependent upon both the firearm and brand of ammunition tested.
