AFTE Store - Modeling Blunt Trauma from Projectile Impact
This paper summarizes relevant data from impacts in the field and credible laboratory tests on cadavers, describes special test data taken by the author, and gives analysis of these data sets to provide quantification for a dynamic model of blunt trauma effects. This dynamic model has excellent correlation with field data from both handgun bullet impacts on body armor and less lethal projectile impacts. This correlation is the only kind of validation that is practical given the problems with any kind of laboratory testing on live humans.
