AFTE Store - Modified 8mm Knall Cartridge and Firearm: Technical and Lethal Aspects

Although Belgian firearms legislation is relatively strict, there are some brands and types of alarm pistols that can be obtained without license. One such firearm is the Kimar model 75 that is capable of firing blank cartridges in 8 mm Knall. While examining a suicide case, the primary author came across a modified Kimar model 75 and ammunition. The firearm was fitted with a smooth barrel and the ammunition was fitted with a steel ball. The combination appeared to be lethal. Converted gas/alarm pistols (and revolvers) in general are commonly encountered in Europe but the conversion described in this paper appears to be seen very infrequently.
