AFTE Store - More on the “Exploding” Bullet

The first case involving an exploding bullet was received at this laboratory and the bullet appeared to act as designed. The entrance hole was torn and irregular in outline and the sodium rhodizonate test showed widely scattered lead particles. The fragments removed from the body included pieces of jacket, core, and parts of a small primer, cup and anvil.
