AFTE Store - Nitrites Examination in Propellant Powder Residue

The traditional methods of chemical analysis used in propellant powder residue examination is either the Walker or Griess tests. Both of these tests use alpha-naphthylamine which has been identified as a carcinogen. An alternate tests, the bruicine, uses concentrated sulfuric acid which cases decomposition of the sample. Hence, it was felt that an alteranate stop test for nitrites in propellant powder residue was needed which could be used in situ on clothing or flesh.
