Notes on Test Bullets Recovered From Trees

One case study in which a conviction was obtained after matching an evidence bullet to previously fired bullets recovered from a tree. The owner of the firearm had loaned it to the defendant, and the two had test fired the gun into the tree to prove the operability of the firearm. A second case study discovered six 45 Auto caliber bullets in a tree, all of which could be identified to one another.
