AFTE Store - “Possibility”

The firearms examiner has to determine via the various toolmarks that appear on the cartridge case; what weapon or type of weapon he is dealing with to be able to inform the investigator. We received in the course of our case examination a Helwan (Beretta-51), semi-automatic pistol in caliber 9mm Para, mfg’d in Egypt under license. Two cartridge cases (c.c) were also submitted, both which displayes Beretta and Colt Browning family characteristics. All the examiners were not sure how this phenomenon could take place so an in depth examination of the weapon had to be pursued.
