Recorded demonstrations have documented that the slide of a semiautomatic pistol can be held closed with minimal effort. Testing was conducted to determine just how much weight is required to hold the slide closed on a 9mm Luger caliber Glock model 17 semiautomatic pistol so it does not eject a fired cartridge case. It was determined to be approximately 2 pounds.
