Presumptive Sodium Rhodizonate Test for the Presence of Primer Residues

Research was conducted to improve upon, and document, a presumptive test for the presence of gunshot residues in the form of primer residues. This research shows that the use of sodium rhodizonate and a treatment of pH 2.8 tartrate buffer solution is an affordable and safe method to presumptively test for lead and/or barium, which are found in primer residues.
