AFTE Store - Previous Cycling/Firing Marks, Reloading Marks and Primer Marks on Winchester 9x19mm Remanufactured Ammunition

Winchester Australia (Limited) is producing a line of 9x19mm remanufactured cartridges being marketed as “recycled centrefire cartridges”. The cartridge cases for these reloads are once-fired cases obtained from the Australian Federal Police, a national law enforcement agency utilising 9mm calibre Glock semiautomatic pistols. Cartridges from a packet of the recycled 9mm cartridges were microscopically examined, and cycling/firing marks and reloading marks were observed on the cases. The primers also showed marks associated with the reloading process as well as manufacturing marks. The significance of recognising reloaded ammunition encountered during casework is discussed.
