AFTE Store - Proficiency Testing In Illinois

Illinois is one of the few states that is fortunate to have a formal Training and Applications Laboratory. As part of the Bureau of Scientific Services, which includes the crime laboratories, the T&A Laboratory is responsible for specific functions: (1) Formalized training of all new Forensic Scientists hired in the system; (2) In-service training of current personnel; (3) Yearly proficiency testing of each analyst in their specific area of expertise; (4) Coordinating all research conducted by the seven laboratories; (5) Evaluation of new equipment and techniques; (6) Special problems or cases from the other laboratories and (7) Giving outside talks and lectures.
