AFTE Store - Recent Footwear Identification Inovations Reviewed

In cases where footwear evidence is submitted today there is a very good chance a suspect can be identified to the evidence. In the past the posititve identification was made by obvious, visible individual characteristics of the shoeprint on aper, glass, cardboard, etc. or in mud or snow. Today, however, there are methods to enhance and recover latents residue prints that may not be visible to the naked eye. In a recent article it was reported on a homicide case where the suspects foot was matched to the wear in the shoe that was matched to bloody shoe prints at the scene. Different methods of performing lifts for comparisons are examined.
