The proper recording of the condition, position and location of the bullet defects at crime scenes is essential to shooting reconstruction and subsequent courtroom proceedings. There is pehaps nothing quite as frustrating (and yet so common) as crime scene photographs that do not adequately document bullet defects. Either by lack of detail, lack of scale, or lack of reference, many shooting scence photographs are rendered useless to investigators and triers of fact.
