AFTE Store - Reprint: Homicide by Blows Dealt to the Head by Means of an Axe and Identification of the Weapon–A 1947 article on toolmarks in Bone
This article was originally published in the International Criminal Police Review, 10, AugustSeptember, 1947. This magazine is the official organ of the International Criminal Police Commission, commonly known as INTERPOL. Pierre Landowski, Editor of INTERPOL and the University of Ghent, (Belgium) who provided the original magazine, gave copyright permission for this reprint. The principle author of this 1947 article, Dr. Frederic Thomas, was a medical examiner (Chief of the lab of Gerechtelijke Geneeskunde of the University of Ghent). Given the issues of the Florida Ramirez decision and the paucity of articles in the area of toolmarks on bone, it was felt that this article would make a suitable reference article in this area. Notice the interesting statistics used in this article.
